Marian’s Double Chocolate Brownies

2/3 c. butter                                    1 ˝ c. flour

4 oz (1/2 c.) cocoa                         1 tsp. baking powder

2 c. sugar                                        ˝ tsp. salt

4 eggs                                             1 c.  semi-sweet chocolate bits

                                                          1 c. chopped nuts (optional)  

Melt butter in a pan large enough to accommodate the brownie batter.  When melted remove from heat and stir in cocoa.  Add sugar then eggs one at a time mixing after each.  Add dry ingredients, stir well.  Stir in chocolate bits…and nuts if desired. 

Bake at 350 degrees in a greased 13 x 9 pan for 30-35 minutes.
